NASCAR has released a virtual first look at what fans can expect at the San Diego Naval Base Coronado later this month.

The NASCAR Cup, O'Reilly and Truck Series are all set to take part in what is set to be a spectacular event at the active U.S. Navy base over the weekend of June 19-21 on a specially constructed road course layout.

It is set to be the first-ever NASCAR race at an active military base, with the facility encompassing eight military facilities stretching from San Clemente Island to the La Posta Mountain Warfare Training Facility.

NASCAR has previously released a design for the layout, but an iRacing simulation of the track has now been released on their official YouTube channel, and it looks like it will be a real tough challenge for the stars more accustomed to ovals.

NASCAR gearing up for San Diego race

Speaking last year when the race was announced, NASCAR's current Chief Operating Officer said: “What a special way to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the Navy, 250th anniversary of our country and put on what is going to be undoubtedly the most anticipated event of 2026.

“And I’m bullish on it being the best sporting event of the year. It’ll be a blend of traditional street racing in a way where we’ll be winding our ways through some of the streets on the base.

“They’ll be going past (aircraft) carriers. They’ll eventually go out onto the tarmac, probably by some military aircraft, maybe a couple of F-18s out there, and then back towards the entrance to the base.”
