NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson is set to star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, it has been confirmed.

The Hollywood Walk of Fame announced its class of 2027 heading into this weekend, with Johnson the sole inclusion in the 'Sports Entertainment' category.

Johnson has been retired from full-time NASCAR racing since the end of the 2020 season, calling time on his career as a record-equalling seven-time Cup Series champion and with 83 Cup victories under his belt.

Now, he's set to become the first motorsports driver to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, joining sporting legends Muhammad Ali, Tiger Woods, Wayne Gretzky and Pele.

Johnson reacted to the news in a short video on social media, revealing that he was both surprised and honored by his inclusion.

"Well, just got wind that I’m going to have a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame," Johnson explained in a video on X. "Super cool news.

"What an interesting twist, interesting surprise. Certainly been in and around the stars on the walk, and I can’t believe, you know, I’ll have a star there. So, a huge thank you to everyone involved in the process.

"I think I’m the first race car driver to have a star on the Walk of Fame, and the seventh in the sports category.

"So, I’m a numbers guy, and number seven keeps following me around. Thank you, everybody.”
