NASCAR Truck Series set for 2027 return to St. Petersburg

After a successful debut outing earlier this season, NASCAR racing will return to the streets of St. Petersburg, Florida, once again in 2027.

Heading into this weekend, Green Savoree Racing Promotions officials confirmed that next year’s IndyCar Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg is slated for March 5-7, 2027.

As part of their announcement, it was revealed that the NASCAR Truck Series will once again act as a support series for IndyCar that weekend, just as it did in 2026.

The inaugural Truck Series event on the downtown street circuit proved to be a real hit, delivering competitive racing while also giving the series exposure to IndyCar's audience on what was their opening race weekend of the season.

Current Truck Series standings leader Layne Riggs claimed victory in the race, which also featured former IndyCar stars Dario Franchitti and James Hinchcliffe.

St Petersburg confirmed for 2027 IndyCar-NASCAR doubleheader

Speaking as part of an official press release, Kim Green, co-owner, chairman and CEO of Green Savoree Racing Promotions, was full of praise for the 2026 event, and revealed the company's excitement for it to return in 2027.

“The 2026 event was our best yet," explained Green.

"Spectator attendance was tremendous on all three days to witness history made with the NASCAR Trucks racing for the first time on a street circuit and INDYCAR kicking off its season once again.

“We look forward to having both of these series back together on track for our fans to enjoy at the 23rd annual Firestone Grand Prix of St. Petersburg weekend.”
