Carson Hocevar spent most of 2025 causing havoc on NASCAR tracks, and he is now doing the same thing at home. With no cars involved.
The 22-year-old Cup Series star is now the poster boy for the sport as it tries to usher in a new era by making superstars of its drivers.
Hocevar, also known as ‘Hurricane’ these days, lived up to the nickname in 2025 by igniting on-track beef with the likes of Ricky Stenhouse Jr., Ryan Blaney and Zane Smith. Among others.
While not all drivers are in love with Carson, the NASCAR fanbase is - his IDGAF attitude, and his love of buying iconic vehicles on Facebook Marketplace, has won them over in a big way.
Hocevar’s social media feeds are a treasure trove of fun stories - most of them ending in chaos - and now the man from Portage, Michigan has another one for us. Concerning a wreck at home in MI, with energy drinks.
Carson Hocevar, and the need for SPEED
When Carson spotted what he thought was a sign for SPEED energy drink back in the day at his parents’ store, he thought it would make a nice feature for the basement back at chez Hocevar.
No issues with that, but the only problem was, the ‘sign’ contained five cans of this stuff, and guess what - they did not age like fine wine. And it now turns out one of them exploded, and has slowly and quietly ruining the basement counter…
After discovering the damage, Hocevar was forced to issue an apology - not for the first time in 2025. And this time, to his Mom.
He wrote: “So here’s a story. this has been at my parents small store since i started racing. so call it 15 years. never knew they were energy drinks and just thought it was a sign.
“fast forward i brought it home and set it in the basement. only to realize one of the cans exploded because of Michigan weather and had been staining and ruining this counter in the basement.
“sorry mom.”
After the wreck, comes the cleanup
After the wreck, comes the cleanup, with Carson joking that he will need protective clothing to deal with the offending substance.
He added: “it exploded years ago and never noticed. and by exploded. EXPLODED but exploded inside the container. getting my hazmat suit now to clean this up.”
No wonder NASCAR just made Hocevar a key feature of its new docuseries RISING. We have just two words for you, Carson. Never change…
