NASCAR driver Stewart Friesen has shared an amazing new health update showing himself walking unaided for the first time in months after being injured in a horrifying wreck earlier this season.
Friesen has been out of NASCAR action since the end of July when he experienced an awful crash while competing in a SuperDIRTcar King of the North race in Drummondville, Quebec.
In said incident, the 42-year-old was running wide on the track in the very early stages of the race when he was catapulted into the air, flipping multiple times before finally coming to a stop in a flaming wreck. The race was immediately red-flagged.
As a result of the incident, Friesen suffered a shattered pelvis, a fractured right leg (tibia and fibula), a fractured C7 vertebra, and a fractured left hip. Multiple surgeries were required.
Stewart Friesen latest health update
Given his injuries, Friesen missed the remainder of the 2025 NASCAR season, and it was made clear from the outset that he faced a lengthy recovery.
As such, several drivers filled in for him in the No. 52 at Halmar Friesen Racing, meanwhile, Friesen himself was condemned to using crutches to get around.
Now, however, the 42-year-old has shared an amazing update on social media, showing himself walking unaided for the first time since the incident.
"Big day, we have a walking driver!" Friesen wrote on X, accompanied by the short clip showing him walking and putting his thumbs up to the camera.

At this stage, it is unclear when Friesen will return to the track. However, the video undermines the progress he is making and clearly shows he is heading in the right direction in terms of recovery.
