23XI Racing is facing multiple suspensions in the San Diego penalty report this week following an incident on Bubba Wallace's car at Naval Base Coronado.
Despite a strong outing from the No. 23 team, with Wallace eventually coming home in second place and moving up two places in the Cup Series standings as a result, it was far from a perfect day.
At one point, Wallace's right front wheel became detached from his car while out on the track, with his crew having not tightened it accordingly during a pit stop.

NASCAR suspensions looming after Bubba Wallace wheel loss
During the race, Wallace was forced to serve a two-lap penalty as a result, and now, further punishments are looming, with Sections 8.8.10.4 A&D of the NASCAR Rule Book stating in part that a “lost tire beyond pit road will result in [a] two-race suspension for two pit crew members [and] a two-lap penalty.”
We have already seen these types of suspensions multiple times in the Cup Series this season. In March, NASCAR suspended two members of Ross Chastain's No. 1 crew at Trackhouse Racing after his right-rear wheel had come off his car during the Cup Series race at COTA.
More recently, following the Coca-Cola 600 last month, two members of the No. 78 team at Live Fast Motorsports were suspended after Katherine Legge's right-front wheel became detached during the final stage of that event.
As mentioned, nothing has been confirmed for 23XI Racing just yet; we have to wait for NASCAR's post-race penalty report for that, which generally drops midweek after an event.
However, given the rules and previous precedent this season, confirmation of suspensions for two 23XI crew members is surely a matter of when, not if.
As always, Oval Insider will bring you the full penalty report as and when it becomes official.
