It is no great surprise that Joe Gibbs Racing has a history of winning in NASCAR when you look at the man who founded it all.

Joe Gibbs of course was a big deal as an NFL head coach well before he moved into motor racing, leading the now Washington Commanders to three Super Bowl titles in 1982, 1987 and 1991.

The team was founded in 1992, in the aftermath of that third Super Bowl for Hall of Fame coach Joe, and it is among the true elite of the sport.

In 2025 JGR ran four cars in fulltime Cup Series racing - headed by all-time great Denny Hamlin (No. 11 Toyota), who just missed out on that elusive first title. He raced alongside Chase Briscoe (No. 19), Christopher Bell (No. 20) and Gibbs’ grandson Ty Gibbs (No. 54).

Despite missing out on Hamlin finally claiming a title, it was a strong year for the team with Hamlin and Briscoe both progressing to the Championship-4 in Phoenix.

JGR has seen its drivers crowned as Cup Series kings on five occasions, with Bobby Labonte getting the ball rolling in 2000. Two greats of the sport - Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch - then each claimed a pair of titles.
