A NASCAR legend and outspoken pundit has revealed that one of the sport's biggest stars was gifted his merch by a family member this Christmas.

Kenny Wallace was a beloved driver in his day – winning the Most Popular Driver award in the Busch Series three times, although he never took a title – and has become something of a media personality after leaving the series.

Wallace's 'Coffee With Kenny' videos, in which he typically speaks for around 8-10 minutes on a hot racing issue of the day while drinking from a mug of coffee, have been a hit with fans, earning him over 150,000 subscribers on YouTube.

The 62-year-old is the younger brother of NASCAR Hall of Famer Rusty Wallace and long-time Cup Series star Mike Wallace, all three of them part of a large racing family.

Wallace curious about Hamlin gift

The one-time Busch Series [now O'Reilly Auto Parts Series] runner up posted online on Christmas Day that he and his crew had been curious to see an order coming in for a 'Coffee With Kenny' shirt and mug from Denny Hamlin's fiancee Jordan Fish.

He admitted wondering about the intended recipient – a question which was answered by a picture of Hamlin himself posing with the set in a chair at home.

"All of us at [the shop] saw an order come through from Jordan Fish. We thought to ourselves who is she buying this for? Today we found out. Thank you, @missjfish. And that shirt will bring you good luck @dennyhamlin"

Hamlin – who raced against Wallace for multiple seasons early in his career – could do with that luck, as he enters his age 45 season still searching for his maiden Cup title.
