2012 Cup Series champion Brad Keselowski has revealed a new NASCAR motivation amid his ongoing injury rehab.
Last month, the RFK Racing co-owner revealed that he had suffered a broken leg during a skiing accident and had been forced to undergo surgery as a result.
This surgery was described as 'routine' at the time by RFK Racing, who also confirmed that Keselowski was expected to make a full recovery.
Since then, Keselowski has revealed that he will miss The Clash exhibition on February 1, and is instead targeting being in the car for the Daytona 500 a fortnight later. Corey LaJoie will replace him in the No. 6 Ford.
"I didn't want to rush back," Keselowski told FOX Sports. "The team and I made the decision together that if all the rehab went absolutely perfect, we'd be ready like, literally, the day of the Clash.
"And that seemed super foolish and didn't give us any time to do any testing on myself or anything like that."

Keselowski reveals new NASCAR motivation
Since his injury was first revealed, Keselowski has been continually sharing updates on his social media, and this week, he shared a new motivation amid his rehabilitation.
Responding to a post that showcased the 10 drivers with the most race starts in Cup Series history, Keselowski wrote on X: "A few people have sent me this which got me thinking…900 starts sounds nice to me.
"Will take about 8 more seasons. Definitely doable. Great broken leg recovery motivation. Thanks to all who’ve sent this to me."
To date, Keselowski has 593 Cup Series starts under his belt, meaning the small matter of competing in 307 more races before that milestone is hit.
His maths is slightly off, however. Providing that the NASCAR schedule remains at 36 races per season, that would take Keselowski eight more seasons, plus a further 12 races, so he'd essentially have to compete in nine further Cup Series campaigns.
Theoretically, Keselowski could hit that goal in the 2034 Cup Series season, at the start of which he will be 50 years old.
