NASCAR star Carson Hocevar has seen an uptick in his social media followers and activity following his first Cup Series victory at Talladega.

Already a popular driver among fans, Hocevar took his maiden win in NASCAR's top series at Talladega Superspeedway last month, beating Chris Buescher to the black and white checkered flag.

While burnouts are customary after a NASCAR win these days, Hocevar's wild celebrations took things to a whole new level.

As well as the burnouts, he also climbed halfway out of his No. 77 Chevrolet, fired it back up, and drove it around the track, waving to fans and pumping his arms in celebration while hanging out of the window in scenes that will go down in NASCAR history.

Hocevar also recently bagged himself a shock invite to the Met Gala earlier this month, such is his popularity at the moment.

Carson Hocevar on recent popularity increase

Ahead of this weekend's All-Star Race action at Dover Motor Speedway, where he ultimately finished 14th, Hocevar was specifically questioned about how his recent victory had affected his numbers on Twitch.

Hocevar regularly streams iRacing live on his Twitch channel, and admits things have seen an uptick in recent weeks, across all of his social media platforms.

“Yeah, I have. I think I average a few hundred more viewers. Every post is up," he explained to the media at Dover.

"The truck win, alone, on Instagram almost got like a million interactions. But yeah, I’ve definitely seen an uptick for sure, on all platforms really, which is obviously good for everybody.

"But yeah, I still get people that chat the first time [on Twitch] because it kind of says it's their first time chat. And they're still like, congrats on Talladega. I was like, man, it's kind of wild. It's been like three weeks or whatever already. But yeah, there's been growth of it, for sure.”

At a time when NASCAR needs to find its next generation of stars, Hocevar's popularity is a welcome boost for the sport.
