NASCAR stars Ty Dillon and Zane Smith are both set to hit major milestones in their respective Cup Series careers at Chicagoland Speedway this weekend.
Dillon, who currently competes full-time at Kaulig Racing, is set to make his 300th Cup Series start in Illinois on Sunday, while for Front Row Motorsports star Smith, it will mark start 100 in NASCAR's top division.
While it's a special occasion for both, the two drivers come into the race in very different form. Dillon finished 12th at Nashville in late May, but since then has finished 24th, 32nd, 30th, and 35th in recent weeks to leave himself lying 33rd in the Cup Series standings.
Smith, however, has been impressive of late, finishing inside the top 10 at three of the last six races, including a season-best finish at the Naval Base Coronado in June. He sits 23rd overall in the division ahead of Chicagoland as a result.

Ty Dillon and Zane Smith set for NASCAR Cup Series milestones
“Making 300 starts in the NASCAR Cup Series is so special to me,” Dillon said ahead of Sunday's race.
“As a kid, you dream of racing in the Cup Series, starting the Daytona 500 and competing for championships. As your career goes on, you realize how important and special it is to keep making starts at this level.
"I’m proud to reach this mark, and I’m grateful I’ve been able to stick around long enough to gain so many experiences racing at the highest level all over the country.
'I’m pumped for this weekend and hopeful there are another 300 starts ahead.”
Smith, meanwhile, told the media on a Zoon call earlier this week that he has ambitious targets in mind as he prepares for start 100.
“I hope to get my first Cup Series win. I don’t know if that counts before 100 starts, but it would be awesome," he said.
"It would be a great place to do it. We have Vermeer on board this weekend, which that was a crowd favorite when we ran that scheme last year, so it would be awesome to pull that off.
"The mile-and-a-halves have been good to us since Charlotte, so it’s exciting and I think definitely possible.”
