NASCAR Cup Series star Carson Hocevar has revealed his wish to one day race in the Indy 500.

Love him or hate him (and a lot of fans love him), the Spire Motorsports star is on fire right now, winning his first Cup Series race at Talladega last weekend, and following it up with a Truck Series win on Friday and pole for Sunday's Cup race at Texas.

Away from NASCAR, though, Hocevar is just a huge race fan. He can often be seen livestreaming iRacing on the internet, and has also previously discussed wanting to race in the Indy 500 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Carson Hocevar on Indy 500 wish

Speaking to the media at Texas Motor Speedway, Hocevar was asked about those comments and whether racing in the Indy 500 was a wish or realistic.

“Well, number one, it's a wish," Hocevar explained. "You know, I think I could actually do it, like as in confidence of running wide open and managing air.

"I don't know if I'll get to do it, literally. But I just hope if I do get a shot that I can go fit the seat and they don't tell me I'm too tall for the ride.

"I, for sure, hope that's not the case. But I'm just enjoying Sunday’s right now for sure, though.”

Why Hocevar wants to race in Indy 500

Hocevar continued, revealing the reasons why he wants to make the one-off switch from stock car racing to open-wheel for the prestigious event.

“It was my favorite race," Hocevar said. "Growing up in Michigan, I thought I was going to go race wingless sprint cars for a living. Bryan Clauson was my idol.

"My double is not the Coca-Cola 600 and Indy 500… my double I thought I'd get to do is the Indy 500 and the Kokomo 30 down the street. You know, that was the double that if I ever did it, that's what I would consider it. So if I ever do get that shot, it would be a lifelong dream.

"But it's just my favorite track, favorite race. NASCAR was always so special, but Indy just was its own thing. It looks so different. It's a month long. They go 230-240 mph, and there's so much prestige to it.

"It's no different than I think how F1 drivers look at Le Mans. It's a totally different sight and sound to them. It's just so different from everything I'm used to with stock cars, dirt cars, or anything growing up. That was the only time I ever sat down and watched the Indy 500 with my family.”

NASCAR drivers who have attempted 'The Double'

If Hocevar were to ever take part in the race and fulfil his duties in the Cup Series, he'd be attempting 'the double', which sees drivers attempt to complete both the Indy 500 and Coca-Cola 600 on the very same day.

Kyle Larson attempted it in the last two seasons, but was unsuccessful at completing the feat both times, with weather scuppering him in 2024 and wrecks preventing him in 2025.

Six drivers in total have attempted the feat in the past, although Davy Jones did not qualify for the Coca-Cola 600 in 1995, meaning even his attempt to run in both races was unsuccessful.
