NASCAR Cup Series: Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson among stars hit with penalties at Michigan

Another weekend of the NASCAR Cup Series season is in the books, with Denny Hamlin winning the FireKeepers Casino 400 on Sunday night.

Whilst it was a thrilling race at Michigan International Speedway, with drama right through until the closing laps, it also proved a busy night for the race officials, as revealed by NASCAR's post-race infraction sheet, which details all of the in-race penalties issued at any given event.

On Sunday, a total of 22 penalties were issued for infractions during the race, the most often of which, as usual, referred to 'pitting before pit road is open', which results in a tail-end penalty. There were 15 instances of this infraction during the race, with drivers such as Kyle Larson and Chase Briscoe among those affected.

Just one lap before, on lap 68, Larson was also hit with a 'speeding on pit road' infraction, with Brad Keselowski and Todd Gilliland being hit with tail-end penalties for the same infraction later in the race on lap 110.

Elsewhere, Chase Elliott and the No. 9 team were also hit with a tail-end penalty during Sunday's race, on this occasion due to 'improper fueling'.

Meanwhile, Shane van Gisbergen and the No. 77 crew were hit with a 'removing equipment from assigned pit area' infraction. Like all other penalties dished out at Michigan on Sunday, this resulted in SvG being handed a tail-end penalty.

Last but not least, before the race had even begun, NASCAR revealed that Tyler Reddick had been hit with a tail-end penalty and was being sent to the rear for 'unapproved adjustments' being made to the No. 45.
