NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has issued a response after a social media user accused him of cheating to win a race.

The race in question happened in July 2010, when Earnhardt Jr. stepped back down from the Cup Series to the O'Reilly Series (then Nationwide Series) to race in the No. 3 Chevrolet at Daytona International Speedway in a collaboration between JR Motorsports, Richard Childress Racing, Dale Earnhardt Inc., and Wrangler.

The collaboration came about to honor his father, seven-time Cup champion Dale Earnhardt, who famously drove the No. 3 car for Richard Childress Racing in the Cup Series, and the No. 3 in the O'Reilly Series (then Busch Series) for Dale Earnhardt Inc., and was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame that year.

Earnhardt Jr. ran a paint scheme inspired by his father's yellow and blue Wrangler car in the race, too, and went on to win, beating Joey Logano and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. to the black and white checkered flag.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. accused of cheating in NASCAR

That win might have been 16 years ago, but a recent post about it led to someone accusing Earnhardt Jr. of cheating to get the victory on social media on Thursday night.

Quote tweeting a post about the win, one user wrote: "This mf'er was the most cheated up race car I had ever seen. He didn't even need the draft."

The tweet has since been seen by over 350,000 users, including Earnhardt Jr. himself, who hit back in the best possible way.

"I got it at my shop right now on a lift if you ever wanna come over and show me what you're talking about," he replied.

In less than 30 minutes, the original poster retracted his initial tweet, posting a meme that said: "I withdraw my accusation."

Still, Earnhardt Jr. reiterated his offer: "Well now you gotta really come see it sometime."
