NASCAR legend Jimmie Johnson has revealed the car number that he will be running for his final Cup Series start at the 2027 Daytona 500.
Johnson retired from full-time NASCAR action at the end of the 2020 season after an incredible career that saw him win 83 Cup Series races and a record-equalling seven championships in the sport's top division.
The seven-time champion has continued to compete in the odd race here or there, though, with Legacy Motor Club - the team at which he is now the majority owner - with his most recent outing having been at the 2026 Daytona 500, where he finished 29th.
However, ahead of that race, Johnson revealed that he would make his final Cup Series start at the 2027 edition of the race.

Jimmie Johnson reveals No. 13 as final NASCAR Cup car number
Previously, Johnson has run No. 84 for all of his part-time racing at Legacy Motor Club, but with the team expanding to three full-time charters next year, he has shared that the team has elected to run full-time with that number for 2027 onwards.
That left a big question: what number would he run for his final start?
“We have 13 reserved,” Johnson explained on the Stacking Pennies podcast. “My partner at Knighthead Capital, his number is 13
“My first win at California that we're just talking about, I go into the media centre…I guess just before that, I’m a numbers guy, 13 kept popping up everywhere.
“I'm like, ‘Oh my gosh,’ another one of those things. I'm gonna fail, I'm gonna lose my job. It's bad luck.
“First question from the media is, ‘How does it feel to win your 13th start?’ I’m like son of a b****, it was a good luck thing the entire time. So 13’s the number.”
Famously, the number 13 is a sign of bad luck, with those who are superstitious in any way opting to avoid the number. There's even a word for those who have a phobia of it - triskaidekaphobia.
In total, drivers have competed in 663 races in what is now known as the Cup Series with the No. 13, but only one of those resulted in a victory. That was Johnny Rutherford back in 1963, when he won a Daytona qualifying race for Smokey Yunick.

Why Jimmie Johnson is retiring from NASCAR Cup Series
Earlier this year, Johnson suggested that his decision to step back from Cup Series racing was to dedicate more time to his role as owner at Legacy Motor Club.
“I’ve been very fortunate to accomplish more than I ever imagined in this sport," he said in February. The last six years have given me the freedom to choose where I compete and more importantly, the clarity to understand where I’m needed most.
"It’s time to focus my energy on building a world-class and unrivaled organization in Legacy Motor Club.
“As a team owner, I need to be on the sidelines on race day supporting our drivers and crews on the competition side and cultivating relationships that are crucial to the long-term growth of the Club."
When is Jimmie Johnson's next NASCAR race?
Johnson is next in NASCAR action in San Diego, racing in the Truck Series race at Naval Base Coronado on June 19.
In that race, he'll be in the No. 1 Toyota truck for Tricon Garage.
