Denny Hamlin has shown off a flashy new purchase this off-season, in a social media post captioned 'new hobby unlocked'.

The Joe Gibbs Racing star picked up a new fishing boat from Bass Pro Shops – a company he's had a long relationship with in his racing career – and showed it off online just before Christmas.

We don't envy any of his family and friends who had to match that as a gift – the base 2026 model of the Nitro Z20 XL, the model Hamlin bought, is retailing for over $60,000 at Bass Pro Shops right now.

Narrating to camera, the 2025 NASCAR Cup Series runner up gave a guided tour of his new toy, explaining: "As you guys have seen, over the last few months I've gotten into fishing quite a bit.

"Of course, I had to go to Bass Pro for my brand new fishing boat. Ended up getting a Nitro Z20 XL here, it's got pretty much everything on it that you could want. It's got the factory 12-inch Garmin screen here, runs everything from side view, live scope.

"I'm a race car driver, of course I've got to have a gas pedal. You see down there, got the hot foot gas pedal, which is amazing. Can't be running the throttle up here [hand operated], you've gotta use your feet. There's storage for all my rods and reels here, and as you can see we've got a dual-mount here by Precision Sonar for dual 16-inch screens..."

[At this point we stopped transcribing the video, because unless you love fishing boats? This means very little to you or, frankly, us. Watch it here if you do want the full lowdown!]

After running through some of the more technologically advanced features, he joked: "Essentially, I really have no excuses."
