Joey Logano has once again bemoaned the state of superspeedway racing in NASCAR.

The Team Penske star was caught up in the Big One at Talladega on Sunday along with at least 25 other drivers, his race ending on the spot after the incident caused by Bubba Wallace getting loose from a push.

The race was unusually structured to front-load the inevitable fuel saving laps in a 98-lap opening stage, but it didn't take much actual racing in the 45-lap Stage 2 before things got out of hand.

The three-time champion claimed after the wreck that it's now proven fact that the Next Gen car can't be raced properly at superspeedways without drivers wrecking, once they're done with soporific fuel-saving measures.

Logano refuses to reveal NASCAR superspeedway fix

“We got to the point where we could start racing and not have to save fuel and we’ve proven with this car we can’t race each other without wrecking,” said Logano. "We got maybe 10 or 12 laps of racing in before we wrecked. That’s about as far as I think we’ve ever gone.”

The veteran racer also explained that the cars are currently completely unsuited to being lined up and pushing because of their physical and aerodynamic characteristics, explaining: “We’ve got round bumpers in unstable cars.

"Cars that you’re able to pop the bubble real easy and get to each other’s bumper, but when you get there, you’ve got to be careful because they’re not stable. It’s like pushing two basketballs against each other. It’s not going to push straight. They’re not two bricks against each other. It’s frustrating.

“That doesn’t help. You’re running on rear limiters. The cars are so solid. There’s no suspension. All those things together. Like I said, there’s no bubble behind the car. You really just get right to the back bumper really quickly. The runs are massive. If you’re not lined up just perfect when you push, you’re going to upset the car in front of you.”

Intriguingly though, Logano claims that he has a solution to the problem. Except...he's not going to elaborate on what it is.

“I plead the fifth,” he said. “Yes [I have a solution], but I’m not going to say it.”

Logano currently sits 15th on points after the race, just barely above the postseason cut line.
