Kurt Busch has said that he's hoping for a 'fitting tribute' to his brother Kyle this weekend, in his first race since the NASCAR great's tragic passing.

Busch is in France this week at the Le Mans Classic for the inaugural NASCAR Classic, in which drivers including the former Cup champion will drive NASCAR cars from years past.

The field will race at the Circuit de la Sarthe, which famously hosts the iconic 24 Hours of Le Mans every year.

The 47-year-old NASCAR Hall of Famer admitted his brother's death is still 'incomprehensible' to him, and said that winning in 'full Kyle style' would feel like a fitting tribute.

Kurt Busch: Kyle's spirit will ride with me this weekend

“I said a couple of weeks ago that Kyle’s ‘spirit will always ride with me', and the first time will be on one of the greatest tracks in the world this weekend," he said ahead of this weekend's racing.

“It is still incomprehensible to think he is gone, not suiting up for the next race as he did for nearly his entire life, but Kyle would have loved to have been right there racing alongside me and our friends at Le Mans. It would be great to make it a fitting tribute with a win for him in full Kyle style.”

He also spoke about the relationships between drivers at the coming event, saying: “With the group here, it’s a fun camaraderie. This is definitely a fraternity house feel because you have guys with a ton of experience and then some that don’t but are wanting to learn.

"It’s like, I can take my GPS system and let the guy look at it and show him how to get around the track a little better. We’re all headed to Le Mans kind of blindfolded.”
