Dale Earnhardt Jr. has weighed in on the surprising beef between Kyle Busch and Denny Hamlin over the last week.

Busch appears to have taken exception to Hamlin's comments from a podcast last week, in which he appeared on the surface to be criticizing the Richard Childress Racing driver's recent work.

The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion certainly appears to have taken the comments personally, warning that he could make the 61-time race winner's life 'hell' in comments last week.

Dale Jr. spoke about the spat on his podcast this week, claiming that the beef most likely comes from Busch being fed select comments from people around him rather than him watching or listening to the full segment.

Dale Jr claims Kyle Busch lacks full picture on Hamlin comments

Speaking on the Dale Jr Download this week, the former Cup star said: “I’ll bet you $100,000 his ass ain’t watched the 13 minutes of it. If anything, he probably got a text from somebody. Someone said, ‘Man, this guy’s talking shit about you.’”

He did also admit of Busch's struggles: “It’s odd to watch them struggle the way they have. Jim Pohlman went over there from here to be the crew chief. They came out of the gate with a great performance and qualifying at Daytona. It’s kind of been tough ever since.

“Kyle keeps having problems every week. I think they would probably run just as good as Austin Dillon if they weren’t having the issues.”

Busch snaps back at Hamlin comments

In a media scrum ahead of last Sunday's race at Kansas, Busch had said of his former team-mate's words: “If Denny wants to switch cars, I'll switch cars with him any day of the week, anytime. I would love for him to show me that he can carry it better than I can.”

He continued: “I have consumed some of it over time, and I've consumed that 80% of it, people don’t know what they’re talking about. And in this instance, I don't feel like Denny Hamlin even knows what the hell he's talking about.

“So he can bash me all he wants, and I can certainly make his life hell.”
