RFK Racing is 'extremely disappointed' after NASCAR's double penalty against Ryan Preece was upheld on Wednesday.
Preece was penalized under Sections 4.3 and 4.4.A of the NASCAR Rule Book following an incident with Joe Gibbs Racing driver Ty Gibbs during the Cup race at Texas Motor Speedway earlier this month.
During the race, Preece was deemed to have intentionally wrecked the No. 54 Toyota, and as a result, he was docked 25 points and fined $50,000.
RFK Racing appealed this decision, but on Wednesday, the National Motorsports Appeals Panel upheld NASCAR's ruling.
“Although not a unanimous decision, NASCAR and RFK Racing presented competing interpretations of common data," they said. "Neither side clearly proved their point, but Mr. Preece’s comments showed that he chose to not cut his competitor any breaks.”

As the news was confirmed, RFK Racing issued an official team statement, revealing that they were not content with the outcome.
"RFK Racing is extremely disappointed in today's ruling by the National Motorsports Appeals Panel," they wrote.
"We stand by Ryan Preece and believe our argument was fair, sound, and without question.
"We appreciate the forum provided by NASCAR to both provide detailed evidence and defend our stance through thoughtful data and digital evidence.
"Let's get back to racing - see you in Nashville!"
