Hendrick Motorsports star William Byron and crew chief Rudy Fugle were involved in a heated, X-rated radio exchange during Sunday's NASCAR Cup Series race at Atlanta.

After a very strong fourth-place finish at Chicagoland Speedway, Byron had a pretty average day this past Sunday, ultimately coming home in 16th position and failing to score any stage points earlier in the race.

As Byron's radio revealed, the Hendrick Motorsports driver was unhappy with how his No. 24 Chevrolet was driving, which perhaps explains why he couldn't get more out of his day.

William Byron's X-rated radio messages at Atlanta

"This is junk, absolute f*****g junk," fumed Byron over the radio on lap 90 of Sunday's race.

"Copy that, yep. Just do what you can. Lightning is close. Not quite halfway," his crew chief Fugle replied.

Byron, though, wasn't content stopping there, needing to air some more of his frustration.

"Plowing my ass off, this is terrible," he added. This message appeared to frustrate Fugle, who hit back with a sharp response.

"I f*****g heard you okay?" replied Fugle. "I heard you. I got it. You're five numbers loose, I put a round on the left rear, we're too tight right now. It's a tight offset.

"We can park it, or we can keep trying until I get to work on it again. Just drive the f*****g thing."

Byron's response: "You got it!"

At that stage of the race, Byron was in 19th position, so whatever changes were made from there on out didn't do much to improve his performance, given that, as mentioned, he came home in 16th.

The results leaves Byron 12th in the Cup Series standings with six races of the regular season to go.
