NASCAR star Chase Elliott has recalled a 'dream' race against his father, Bill, and revealed why he's hesitant to get out on track against him once again.
NASCAR, as a sport, has a fine tradition of families having had multiple generations driving stock cars, and the Elliotts are one of many father-son duos to have reached the Cup Series.
Of course, Chase currently races at Hendrick Motorsports and won the Cup Series championship in 2020, while father Bill, or 'Awesome Bill from Dawsonville' as he was known, won the 1988 Cup championship and two Daytona 500s in a career that spanned 828 races in the sport's elite division.
Recently, Bill has gotten back in a car, winning a Sportscar Vintage Racing Association race at Sebring back in February, which has left some fans hoping to see Chase and Bill back out on the same track once again soon.

Chase Elliott on 'dream' race against father Bill
That once happened at Nashville Fairgrounds in the SRX Series in 2021, where Chase won, ahead of Bill and Tony Stewart.
Speaking with Kevin Harvick on the FOX YouTube channel, recalling that race, Elliott has delved into why it was such a special moment for him.
“He [Bill] laid it out there. He got out of that car, and he looked like he had just run 875 laps here [Bristol Motor Speedway] in like 1985. You could just tell he wanted to beat me so bad it was killing him,” he explained.
“But also, at the same time, we had so much fun with that, and I just don't know that we could ever tee that up and have a night be more fun.
"I got to share the podium with him and Tony Stewart. Tony was a hero of mine, and to see Dad get up on the wheel like I haven't seen him get up on a wheel like that in so long, yeah, just so much about that was perfect."
Will Chase and Bill ever race one another again?
With that race having been so perfect, Chase says that he isn't certain he wants to do it again, just in case it doesn't live up to the previous occasion.
“I want to say yes,” Elliott said when asked if he and Bill would race against each other again at some point.
“I want those moments, I want more of those moments because I do think that is a really special thing to be able to share with somebody who…there's not many people in your life that totally get what you're going through that you do on a weekly basis.
“When that person is your dad, that is a very rare thing and something that I know not everyone understands.”
Elliott continued: “So for that, I'm so fortunate, and I get it, but man, the moment that we had in Nashville at that SRX race was so top-tier that I almost don't want to do it again.
"It was like everything I ever could dream of from racing against him."
