It is now official - the blockbuster courtroom battle pitting NASCAR vs Michael Jordan is finally over.
When Jordan’s 23XI Racing team and Front Row Motorsports filed an antitrust suit against the France dynasty in October 2024, it quickly became the biggest story in the sport.
For the next 14 months the ongoing legal battle overshadowed events on track as NBA legend Jordan looked to provide what he said would be a fairer landscape for the teams.
On December 1, 2025 - after mediation and legal wrangling had failed to find a solution, the case did go to court down in Charlotte. For the next 10 days, MJ and fellow 23XI owner Denny Hamlin would create national headlines as they continued their battle.

The settlement in Charlotte
Then, on December 11, we got the seismic news that the two sides had finally settled. NASCAR teams would now get evergreen charters - instead of only having certainty for a relatively short, fixed term.
Even once the dust had settled in the courtroom, there were still t’s to be crossed and i’s to be dotted. And now those chips have finally fallen.
Case finally dismissed in NASCAR vs Michael Jordan
Teams have all signed their charters, and it was then finally announced this week (per NASCAR insider Jordan Bianchi) that the court case has officially been dismissed by the court in Charlotte. That means all parties have now signed the settlement agreement.
The news comes on the eve of NASCAR’s rescheduled season opener - the Cook Out Clash at Bowman Gray Stadium.
Now it's time to race - NASCAR 2026 season opener is here
The Clash had initially been scheduled for Sunday (February 1) but a brutal snowstorm in North Carolina has seen it postponed twice already, first to Monday and now to Wednesday (today).
The race is due to get under way at 6pm Eastern, and fans wanting to tune in for the action, you'll need to watch on the FOX Sports App, FOX Sports website, or FOX One.
Before that, qualifying gets under way at 1.30pm ET, with last chance qualifying at 4.30pm.
