NASCAR Cup Series star Shane van Gisbergen has moved up the list of all-time road course wins in the division following his victory at Sonoma Raceway on Sunday.

Ahead of the race, van Gisbergen had seven road course wins under his belt in the Cup Series - a remarkable achievement given he has only been full-time in NASCAR's top division for one and a half seasons.

His previous win tally of seven saw him tie Cup Series rival Chase Elliott in fourth spot, but now, after adding an eighth, he has moved up to tied-second with NASCAR legend and three-time Cup Series champion Tony Stewart.

Seven-time Cup Series champion Jimmie Johnson is the all-time wins leader when it comes to road course racing in the division with nine victories, meaning that van Gisbergen is now just one victory away from tying him for top spot.

That cannot happen until at least 2027, though, with no more road course races on the remainder of the Cup Series schedule in 2026.
