RFK Racing President Chip Bowers has offered the latest update on Brad Keselowski's return to NASCAR action.

Having broken his leg and undergone surgery in December, Keselowski has already confirmed that he will miss The Clash exhibition race at Bowman Gray Stadium on February 1.

However, the 2012 Cup Series champion is targeting being back in his No. 6 Ford a fortnight later for the Daytona 500.

RFK chief on Keselowski recovery

Now, speaking on the radio, Bowers has revealed it's business as usual at RFK ahead of the new season, explaining that Keselowski is on target to be back in the car for the Great American Race.

“He is so enthusiastic and energetic,” Bowers told SiriusXM NASCAR Radio. “His rehab is going really well.

“He's really bullish on his ability to be in the car for Daytona. Everything's going as planned; he's already in the simulator, so a lot of good stuff is happening, and so we're excited and feel really confident [that he’ll make Daytona].

“Corey [LaJoie] in the fourth car, it’s because we’ve got our primary drivers in the [Nos.] 6, 17 and 60.”

Asked about the seriousness of Keselowski’s injury, he continued: “It's one of the biggest bones in the body, but modern medicine is just unbelievable.

“He’s doing everythingthe doctors told him would [happen]. Everything the doctors told him would happen has happened, and he’s followed his plan to a tee.

“I will tell you that the doctors literally within minutes of the injury, as he was making calls and lining up conversations, all told him that he could be back in eight weeks, and he just had to stick with the plan.

“So once they got the X-ray back and it showed the injury and it was a clean break and all the things that they were hoping would be the case, they thought for certain at that point without a setback, he could be racing in Daytona.

“And so he’s been hyper-focused on that, as we have as an organization, and it’s business as usual over here.”

Keselowski update

Responding to the above comments on X, where he has been sharing various updates on his recovery, Keselowski offered fans the very latest on his return.

"Making steps = taking steps," he wrote. "Putting in the effort for rehab all day/every day means missing media day this year.

"Happy to say, my leg is starting to work, and I’m looking really good for Daytona."
