In an ideal world, the NASCAR Cup Series stars would race the Daytona 500 on Sunday under sunshine and clear blue skies, but Mother Nature has other ideas.
At least that is according to the latest weather forecasts for Daytona Beach, Florida, which say there is a chance we could see rain disrupt today's Great American Race.
NASCAR has already moved the race time forward by one hour to try to combat this, but further delays and schedule changes could yet occur.
With that said, let's take a look at what the weather forecast currently says.

Daytona 500 latest weather forecast
With an official start time of 1:30pm ET and a green flag start set for 2:13pm ET, there is currently a 34% chance of rain at Daytona International Speedway when the race gets underway.
This increases slightly as the afternoon goes on, and by 4pm, there is a 43% chance that rain falls, according to the latest forecast.
Unfortunately, if there are any lengthy delays, the chances of rainfall keep on increasing as the day goes on. By 6pm ET, there is a 51% chance of rainfall, rising to 60% by 7pm ET, with thunderstorms also predicted to hit between 6pm and 8pm ET.
If bad weather disrupts the race, it would be the third consecutive year it has done so, with a lengthy four-hour rain delay having ensued in 2025 before the event eventually finished under the lights on Sunday night.
In 2024, NASCAR was even forced to hold the race on Monday due to a washout at Daytona International Speedway, and nobody wants to see that again.
But, if it's necessary, NASCAR will take action, as highlighted by their flexibility in Winston-Salem earlier this month when snow caused the Clash to be postponed three times.
Fortunately, if the action were to be pushed back to Monday, the sun is expected to be shining and the skies clear, with rain only forecast for the early hours of the morning.
