Max Verstappen is not a very happy F1 driver right now, so it makes perfect sense for a NASCAR Cup Series team to launch a bid to sign him.

On Thursday afternoon, Verstappen stunned global media when he launched a brutal attack on F1’s sweeping new regulations - which apparently will reduce the sport to something like Mario Kart in 2026.

Verstappen unhappy with 'new f1 rules'

The four-time world champion, now 28 years old, made it clear that if he no longer enjoys driving in F1, he will not stick around. He has won four world titles and made a ton of money (His Red Bull contract is worth a reported $70million per season) - having fun is now important.

Verstappen described the new regulations as ‘anti-racing’, and stressed: "It needs to be fun to drive as well. I think, at this stage of my career. I mean, I am, of course, also exploring other things outside of Formula 1 to have fun at."

Fast forward less than 24 hours, and the offers for Verstappen to go elsewhere to race are starting to come in. Including a cheeky bid by RFK Racing co-owner and NASCAR legend Brad Keselowski.

Keselowski tells Verstappen: 'DM when you're ready Max'

The 42-year-old former Cup Series champion reacted to those quotes from Verstappen with a simple message, which read: “We have a @FordRacing cup car ready to go. Feel free to DM when you’re ready Max”.

Keselowski’s message of course comes just as Verstappen’s Red Bull are teaming up with Ford on their new power unit project in 2026. And just days after another NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr had spoken of how he would love to see Verstappen in the Cup Series.

Dale Jr said: "I mean, I would love to see Max Verstappen give it a try. He’s incredible and I think his curiosity, his work ethic, I think all of that would play a great role in allowing him to be successful.

"Plus, our cars have changed a lot. Our cars have independent rear suspension, the transaxle diffuser… our cars aren’t the stock cars from 10, 20 years ago, and so I think the opportunity for an F1 guy to have success is much better today than it was 20 years ago."

Sunday sees the 2026 NASCAR Cup Series season get under way for real with the iconic Daytona 500 in Florida. Can you imagine Verstappen crossing the pond to take a shot at that?

As the Dutchman often himself says, that would be ‘simply lovely’.
