A NASCAR driver and his team have been demoted ahead of this weekend's endurance race at Daytona.
The 24 Hours of Daytona, or Rolex24 as it is known for partnership purposes, takes place at Daytona International Speedway this weekend.
Ahead of the action, qualifying in all classes took place on Thursday, and in the Grand Touring Prototype (GTP) class, NASCAR star Connor Zilisch's team took pole.
Zilisch is sharing responsibilities in the No. 31 for Cadillac Whelen with Earl Bamber, Frederik Vesti and Jack Aitken this weekend, and the latter was in the car to set the fastest qualifying time of 1:33.939 on Thursday.

Zilisch's team stripped of pole
However, the celebrations for the No. 31 team would be cut short later in the day.
IMSA later confirmed that their car had failed post-qualifying technical inspection at Daytona International Speedway, with the car’s friction area of the rear skid block beyond the permitted tolerance.
Zilisch and his teammates have now lost pole position and will instead start at the rear of the field of the GTP class.
The No. 31's demotion promotes the No. 93 of Acura Meyer Shank Racing w/Curb Agajanian to pole position for the race start on Saturday after Renger van der Zande finished qualifying in second place.
The Rolex24 is set to start at 1:40 pm ET on Saturday, January 24.
