NASCAR legend Dale Earnhardt Jr. has offered his take on the reports regarding the future of the No. 48 Chevrolet at Hendrick Motorsports.
Alex Bowman is the current driver of the car in the Cup Series, but it's a contract year for the 33-year-old, and rumors are already circling as to who could replace him.
Last week, for example, FOX Sports' Bob Pockrass and The Athletic's Jordan Bianchi both named Cup rookie Connor Zilisch as a driver whom Hendrick Motorsports are interested in.
Meanwhile, there have also been reports from insiders that Corey Day is also a potential contender, despite being in his rookie season in the O'Reilly Series.

Dale Earnhardt Jr. on Hendrick Motorsports B
Speaking on his Dale Jr. Download podcast, Earnhardt Jr. addressed the reports, first up, discussing Day's prospects.
"There's been just, you know, rumours flying around,” Earnhardt Jr. said of the Hendrick Motorsports speculation.
“One of those is that Corey Day could be seen as a guy that, depending upon how the rest of this year goes, he's won two races in the O'Reilly Series, they could move him up.
“I got my opinions about that, I think Corey, everybody that goes into the O'Reilly Series, especially Corey, who has some very limited asphalt experience, the two-year deal is kind of always the minimum I think, for young guys coming through the O’Reilly Series.
“So I’d like to see Corey run another season [in the O’Reilly Series], but he could get thrust into that position.”
Earnhardt Jr. then turned his attention to the Zilisch talk, adding: “That would involve all kinds of you know, crazy shenanigans with contracts and so forth, because he's with Trackhouse.”
Dale Earnhardt Jr: Jeff Gordon in tough spot
"I don't know what that means for Alex," Earnhardt Jr. concluded. "I think Alex belongs in the Cup Series.
"I think he's talented. When he's injury-free, when he's healthy, I think that he can get the job done.
"It's a tough spot, I think, if you're Jeff Gordon or any of those other guys trying to figure out what to do."
