NASCAR outfit Niece Motorsports shared a health update regarding one of its drivers following racing action at St. Petersburg.

The NASCAR Truck Series raced for the first-ever time on a road course around the streets of St. Pete, and did so in very warm conditions, with a number of drivers visibly affected by the temperatures within the cockpit.

Despite that, it was an exciting race, but afterwards, Niece Motorsports confirmed that Tyler Reif had been transported to the medical center, issuing the following statement.

"Following today's NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series event at St. Petersburg, Tyler Reif, driver of the No. 42 Chevrolet for Niece Motorsports, was transported to an area medical facility for further observation," the team wrote.

Niece Motorsports confirms positive driver health update

Later, Niece Motorsports confirmed that Reif had thankfully been released from the medical facility after being treated for heat exhaustion.

"Tyler Reif has been released from a St. Petersburg area medical facility after being treated for heat exhaustion," a second statement read.

"Tyler and his family would like to express their gratitude to the NASCAR officials, track medical workers, and the local medical facility staff for their care."

Saturday was 18-year-old Reif's third-ever NASCAR start, having only made his debut at Phoenix last season.

So far, he has had some strong results, too, with a top-10 in that Phoenix race, and 17th and 16th place finishes at Atlanta and St. Petersburg to kick off 2026.

Reif is the 'anchor driver' for the No. 42 team at Niece Motorsports, but he is set to share the ride with others throughout the season.

At this stage, it is unclear whether or not he will be in the truck next time out at Darlington (March 20), although that is three weeks away, so he certainly has plenty of time to recover.
