NASCAR driver Josh Berry has revealed that he is continuing his plans to race this weekend despite adverse weather threatening the Clash.

As is NASCAR tradition, the Clash exhibition race is set to kick off the new season this weekend, with action at Bowman Gray Stadium planned for Saturday and Sunday.

However, currently, the forecast is looking like it could threaten any running, with snow expected on Friday and Saturday and a storm warning in place.

Naturally, such forecasts have led to speculation that the event could be canceled or rescheduled, with the entire NASCAR community continuously refreshing their feeds and emails for updates from the stock car racing series.

Josh Berry quizzed on Clash weather threat

As it turns out, the drivers and teams are no more in the loop than us regular folk. That's according to Wood Brothers Racing star Berry, who sat down with the media on Wednesday.

Despite the uncertainty, though, Berry revealed that he and his team are continuing their race preparation plans when he was quizzed on whether or not he's heard anything about the race being rescheduled.

“No, I haven't,” Berry explained to Oval Insider and other media. “I think we're all kind of in the same scenario, just waiting to see what they’re [NASCAR] thinking going forward.

“I would say that that's probably a possibility [the race being rescheduled] looking at the forecast, and I assume that they're just probably waiting for it to get a little closer and you get a better idea of what the weather's looking like before they make a decision.

“But for us, we’re planning on racing.”

NASCAR Clash latest weather forecast

As of Thursday morning, no updates have emerged from NASCAR regarding the race being rescheduled, with the series seemingly sticking to its guns so far.

However, forecasts for the weekend remain gloomy. As mentioned above, right now, Bowman Gray Stadium is in an area given a winter storm watch weather warning, beginning Friday January 30 and running through 1pm local time on Sunday, February 1.

Temperatures on race day are forecast to be a high of 28.4°F, with a low of 12.2°F. Never above freezing.

Before that, on Friday and Saturday, snow is forecast on both days as North Carolina shivers thanks to an unusually cold start to the year.
