NASCAR legend Kevin Harvick has claimed that the ownership combination of Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin at 23XI Racing is 'dangerous'.

Harvick made the comments following Tyler Reddick and 23XI's third-straight victory at Circuit of the Americas on Sunday, with the driver of the No. 45 Toyota having been able to fend off road course expert Shane van Gisbergen.

In doing so, Reddick became the first NASCAR driver to ever win the opening three races of a Cup Series season.

And, just as he was at the Daytona 500 and in Atlanta, Jordan was present in Austin, Texas, to celebrate that success with his driver and team.

Kevin Harvick analyzes 23XI success

Reacting to the weekend's events on Speed with Harvick and Buxton, Will Buxton quizzed Harvick on how Jordan's influence affects 23XI and their performance on-track.

Harvick responded: “Well, he [Jordan] said it after the race, his biggest piece of the puzzle that he brings to the table is the financial stability for the team, the investment that they have made in the team.

“But in his words, it's Denny Hamlin. Denny Hamlin was able to help him put the pieces together, and actually, he said that he [Hamlin] put the pieces together to go out and find Billy Scott, Tyler Reddick's crew chief, to go get Tyler Reddick, to put [together] Bubba Wallace and the crew chief pairings that they have, the personnel inside."

Denny Hamlin and Michael Jordan 'dangerous'

Harvick continued, stressing just how important having the right people in place is for an organization, stating that speed alone isn't enough, and why Hamlin and Jordan are a dangerous combination.

“As you know, you can have fast cars, and you can have the coolest trick of the week, but if you don't have the right people…this is no different than any other business; it's all about the people," Harvick added. "And Denny Hamlin should get a lot of credit for that.

“And that pairing of Denny Hamlin's ability to understand the sport, Michael Jordan's commitment to make sure that they have the funding and the things that they need to put those cars on the racetrack, it really boils down to being able to get more details out of the race car and put those pieces together at superspeedways, road courses, going into a short track at Phoenix next week.

“So I think that pairing of Michael Jordan and Denny Hamlin is obviously dangerous and very successful to start the 2026 season, and I think that Michael, in his own words, gave Denny all the credit for putting those people in place.”
