NASCAR Cup Series star Denny Hamlin has shared a positive health update regarding his mother, Mary Lou.
Sadly, it emerged in December that there had been a house fire at a property owned by the NASCAR star, and it transpired to be his parents' home.
Whilst officials did not initially disclose names when confirming the incident at the property, an official statement from Gaston County Emergency Management and Fire Services later identified his parents, Dennis and Mary Lou Hamlin, as the two individuals who suffered injuries from the blaze.
Tragically, Dennis, who was already suffering with a terminal illness, later succumbed to his injuries at the hospital, whilst Mary Lou was transferred to Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist Burn Center in Winston-Salem for further treatment.

That was the last update we received on Mary Lou's condition, with the entire NASCAR community having had her in their prayers in recent weeks.
Now, speaking at NASCAR media day ahead of the new season, Hamlin has shared the latest on Mary Lou's recovery.
"She has good days, bad days, but is getting better," Hamlin told FOX Sports.
Elsewhere in the interview, Hamlin said: "The NASCAR family has always been a very tight group, and I appreciate the condolences and the well-wishes and everything from everyone.
"It certainly does mean a lot."
