Last year at Talladega's spring race, a shock driver emerged as the pole winner, with Zayn Smith having topped qualifying on that occasion ahead of Kyle Busch. Then, when the Cup Series returned to Talladega for the playoff race, it was another surprise contender, Michael McDowell, who topped the timesheets.
It will certainly be interesting to see who comes out on top this time around, and at the same time, who misses out on the race, with 41 entries for 40 spots.
