NASCAR fans waking up this weekend still aren't sure if we're actually going to get any Clash action, with snow currently hitting Winston-Salem, North Carolina.

The Clash exhibition was due to take place at Bowman Gray Stadium over the weekend, with practice and qualifying heat races on Saturday, and then last chance qualifying and the race on Sunday.

However, Saturday's action has already been postponed, and although NASCAR is determined for the action to go ahead tomorrow, everything is weather-dependent.

NASCAR not only has the issue of sorting the track and facility, but safely getting people to the venue, including the drivers and the teams.

NASCAR driver calls for Clash snow race

Since news of wintry weather was first forecast, there has been a mix of ideas floated among the NASCAR community as to how the stock car series could handle it. Some think it should be canceled, some think it should go ahead, and some think it should be rescheduled.

Former NASCAR driver Landon Cassill is in the very former of those groups, and he believes that the sport could have a generational moment in the snow.

Writing passionately on X, the 343-race Cup Series driver said: "To everyone out there thinking the Clash should get canceled or moved because of the weather this weekend: seriously, what are you even thinking?

"We’ve got a legit generational moment here: kicking off the NASCAR season with Cup cars lined up on the grid, snow flurries blowing around, infield getting a light coat of white, and jet dryers blasting the track clear.

"Imagine crews actually having to shovel and dry the thing just enough to roll cars out, on live TV.

"We sit around for rain delays all the time and think nothing of it. Why not do the same for snow? I’m all in. Give me the snow race 2026. Let’s make it happen."

We have to admit, it does sound pretty cool.

NASCAR latest update on Clash weather

Despite wintry forecasts and snow, NASCAR remains determined to race at Bowman Gray.

Speaking on the Hauler Talk podcast ahead of the weekend, NASCAR Senior Director of Marketing Services Justin Swilling, who is running operations this weekend, said: “Come hell or high snow, we’re going to be racing.

“We’re going to race as soon as that place is ready to roll.”

Swilling later added: “We felt the timing we came out with on Sunday was a best-case scenario and what we’re certainly hoping for that, and then if Mother Nature’s meaner to us, we’ll adjust accordingly.

"As soon as we can drop the hammer, we’re going to do it.”
